Final Video

For my project I decided to make a parody news broadcast, telling you what I’ve been doing since the quarantine, which is nothing. It’s not meant to take a stance or be political, it’s just supposed to be silly. I most definitely think that it’s necessary that we stay home, I just feel like with all the free time we have at home and how serious the situation is in Clark County, I feel like it’s a good idea to be silly, to distract little bit from what’s going on. I got inspiration to do this from John Krasinski’s new video series since the quarantine called Some Good News. Since he started doing it, a lot of YouTube channels have been bandwagoning this trend of making news broadcast channels, so I wanted to do the same thing. I made the intro, for another assignment previously in After Effects, so that’s how I got the news intro. I got my music from freesound.org which, I’ll make sure to link the song below. For the video, I essentially just used crossfade transitions, I almost thought it was a good idea to use graphic transitions, however when I added them in, it seemed to make the video more cheesy, which it is already sufficiently cheesy, so I stuck to the original crossfade transitions . Some trouble I ran into was trying to find good light for filming. We’ve had a lot of good light outside recently, however inside of course all of our lights in our house are a yellow color which is not good for filming. I didn’t realize this until I uploaded it to my computer and began editing, so it was a little late for me to re-film. So to overcome this I edited all the bites where I was playing the lead anchor, and just took it into the color tab in premiere and tried to mess with it’s filters and what not. Another problem I had, was communicating with my friend on how he should be filming. I feel like if I had made a better story board and more detailed it would have been a lot easier for him, but you know it was hard for me to just explain what I wanted. When I posted my video it was clear from my comments that a lot of the sound was quiet, so I took my video back into premiere and raised the volume during the actual news segments. The echo was something people had commented on, however the effect on premiere that I could use did not sufficiently get rid of it, rather it added a bit more noise which made the audio sound worse in quality. It is more audible, however it’s quality has definitely diminished.
